Two Mississippi girls need advice on exactly what pieces of equipment we need to plan on buying for a first-time coffee/tea/smoothie shop. Anybody know where I could view a list or a shop layout? We are not interested in a franchise - just a little partnership venture we want to do. We want to do about 50/50 coffee/smoothies because we are located very near a lake and semi-resort type area.

Where to buy equipment

Hi, In regards to the original post, is there a magazine or catalog where we can get pricing of equipment or at least an estimate of cost for the equipment?

All great lists and fairly complete...But as M.C. states it all depends on how deep your pockets are. Especially being your first time out. Let your customers decide what percentage of sales will be coffee, smoothies, teas, etc. Sit down and pencil out the things you think you will need to start out with. As you start to grow and if the business supports it, then begin purchasing additional equipment as needed. At the very least contact your local health department and obtain a package from them to see what they require. Some of the stuff may be listed there for you
