So I've recently purchased a Burr grinder and a French Press as I really enjoy coffee... However, everywhere has different ideas for the amount of beans to grind up and the amount of water to use with it. Now I know this is personal preference as it goes by how dark or light you like your coffee. I purchased Medium Breakfast Blend beans and I like a medium roast coffee. So far I've tried 16 oz of water and 2 tbsp of beans (way too light) and 16 oz of water and 4 tbsp (still a bit light)

Thanks in advance!

Since there are so "many ideas", I would suggest adding one more tablespoon to your last batch brew size, 5 to 16oz., then adjust if necessary to your desired taste. Also, you may want to grind a little less coarse for stronger taste. On second thought you may want to start there first. Just my $.02.

I use the old standard ratio of 15:1 - 20 grams of beans to 300 grams ( approx. 10.25 oz) of water. If a person starts there it can be easily adjusted to suit your tastes.... :-)

For my taste, I like putting about 3 heaping teaspoon fulls of course ground coffee per mug (my mugs are about 1.5-2x the size of a standard cup).

Then add hot water. Stir. Then wait 4+ minutes and press.
