I've been experimenting with an Iberital "Expression" 2 group this week, very impressive it is too.
The consistency of the espresso shots produced have been outstanding.
Pre infusion is easy to set up and effective with lots of options on timing. PID control of coffee boiler is also easily set up and effective.
The machine optimises the boiler pressure/heating during your busy periods to ensure its always spot-on and "relaxes" the parameters when quiet - makers claim it will be around 30% cheaper to run than an equivalent regular machine.
Dosed hot water output can be programmed to be mixed (adjustable cold infusion) or direct from the main boiler.
E61 type groups are supplied with 53mm filter holders but if you prefer an alternative shower plate kit can be installed to allow 57mm filter holders to be used.
A high group option is available.
Access to internal parts is easy with all panels easy to remove.
LCD display allows access to a Barista menu and also a Technician menu where more changes can be made to programming.
Lever operated steam valves are easy to use.
Servicing should be really easy, we took out the main boiler just to see how long it would take (de scaling/hard water are a menace in our area) - it took just a few minutes to completely remove it.
All things considered, it is really hard to criticise the machine, especially when you consider it is less than half the price of a similar well known Italian twin boiler machine!
No, it doesn't have stainless steel boilers and it has rather plain styling but wow, what a machine for the money. Iberital is making a bit of a scene on the UK market with its new models and I can see why - 10/10 for effort.
