Using beans or not.

Pretty simple question. If I buy the beans rather than just using ground coffee, will I actually taste a big difference? I am currently buying ground coffee and brewing and I'd like to make the best possible coffee but I don't want to go to the trouble of buying a bean crusher and beans if the taste will not be all that noticeable. I will be adding a sweetener and cream.

Yes, I still use both types, but prefer beans over ground, especially for espresso, I can't get pre-ground to make crema, but it still taste good, most of that has to do with the "best if used before date". Some grocery stores, like Kroger especially, will put coffee on sale, but then you look at the best if used before date and may find that it had expired 5 months ago, now they put it on sale. Yes, I've seen that on Kroger coffee isle.

Whenever you're buying coffee from any place check that best if used before date before buying it.

There was a guy on You Tube that found an unopen metal can of Folgers (EEK), that had an expiration date of sometime in 1978! He opened the can, and it did hiss upon opening it, said it smelled great, so he made some coffee and said it was tasted great. Though Folgers to me never tasted great, but that's beside the point, the coffee apparently was still good. I don't think these newer plastic coffee containers will remain as sealed; thus lose its freshness sooner than the old tin can ones did.

Thanks, since I have the time, I'm going to try grinding beans and immediately using them to brew.
