Ever since I got my Bonavita 1900 and Baratza Encore , i became much more of a coffee snob. I joined one of those coffee around the world clubs
Atlas coffee that I’m pretty happy with. Each month I get freshly light/medium roasted beans from a different country. Ethiopian Yirgacheffe is one of my favorites and like to have that on hand a lot of the time and get it from Volcanica which I’m very happy with as well. Both are well known premium coffee vendors online.

I STRONGLY disagree. Unless you have an actual drum roaster that you can control the temp, air flow, etc, AND have hundreds of hours of experience roasting - you will make great green coffee into adequate roasted coffee. I've been roasting coffee for over 17 years and am still finding subtle changes to roast profiles that unmask subtle nuances in the coffee that would be obliterated with heavy handed roasting.

I guess if you’re into doing that, more power to ya! The 2 companies I’ve been using online for sometime now, Atlas Coffee and Volcanica, roast the day or day before they get shipped out to me and have the roast date stamped on each bag.

I disagree that a hack can't roast good coffee. A hack eventually gains experience. I modified an old hot air popper (the one everyone uses from the 80s) so the heat is controlled via PWM. It roasts good coffee. Of course, I can only do about 4-5 coffee pots worth per run. But that works for me.
