I am looking for a filter coffee machine, but don''t know which one to get. I want something that will look stylish in my kitchen, but also makes good coffee!

Do you think that there is a difference in the quality/taste of the coffee produced by different machines, or its just dependant on the type of coffee you use?

essentially any machine that (preferably) brews into a thermal carafe, and that most importantly, reaches and maintains correct brewing temperature throughout the entire brew cycle. Many only brew at 185-190 degrees, so you'll never extract all the flavor nuances from your coffee.

I can't speak for which machine, because there are so many that will meet your needs. However, the coffee itself is a critical factor. There are a lot of different coffees and all have their own unique taste. Some suited to filter brewing and others not so well suited. To complicate things even more, where you source your coffee is also critical, as you may think you don't like a particular coffee, but this could be because it's stale, or roasted incorrectly. e.g. Monsooned Malabar, can be great, or crap depending how it's roasted, I use MM as an example, because roasted wrongly it can get amazingly horrible.
