Espresso generally speaking can be a bit costly due to the build quality/tolerance of the devices needed to give good performance and longevity... If my absolute top end budget was $150 I'd go for a stainless moka pot and hand grinder. Hand grinders can quite often be found/used in great shape at fair prices as many users get tired of the effort far too quickly.

BTW there is a top notch hand grinder being offered at a steal and paired with a moka pot will get you as close to quality espresso that your budget will possibly allow. Granted a moka won't technically be 'real' espresso due to difference in pressure, but close enough that you will likely be quite content for awhile.
