Any feelings about using your espresso machine to brew single cups of coffee? By this I am thinking would you replace say your drip brewed Ethiopian harrar with an americano using single varietal beans? Pro's and Con's? Is this what they do in Europe to make "american" coffee?

Yeah, the hot water spout does run through a heat exchanger, same as the brew system, though it does so with out the pump running. The only thing that intimidates me about descaling the boiler is getting the stuff out. I imagine I would need to disassemble the sucker to do it right. Otherwise...

The main symptoms are that the machine shakes some and my crema is weak. I have replaced the gasket and attempted to adjust the pump pressure settings, these adjustments made no difference. [/i]
