Same here. Thanks for all the info. I hope my Breville doesn't die any time soon, but I'm keeping the info on your machine for next time.

shadow, that is a pretty machine. So, you're pleased with the quality overall? It looks like you can fit a regular mug under the basket. Can you? I'm assuming you get a filter for brewing double shots? I'm bookmarking it for my list when I need a new one.

Intriguing. Tell me about it. Is "KA" the name of the company it's made by?

    Rancillio and Breville Machines

As long as I regularly clean the basket in the dishwasher, I have absolutely no problem with it clogging. Washing by hand doesn't clean thoroughly enough for more than about a week - well, I guess you could swish forever if you felt like standing there for a while. In no way have I put the...

    Rancillio and Breville Machines

A friend recently called asking for advice on espresso machines, and prompted my memory of this board. The information I found here was very helpful and I thought it might help someone else if I updated about my Breville, Cafe Roma, two years later. We still love the machine and it seems to be...

Replacement filter for Breville Cafe Roma

I'm late, but thought I'd post just in case you were still monitoring this thread. I have a Cafe Roma and also notice the basket clogging. I have found that if I run the basket through the dishwasher, the problem resolves itself. When I notice the water flow decreasing on one side or the...

    Espresso Machine for Home

Getting to this a little late, but I have a Cafe Roma. It is a noisy machine, but I am extremely pleased with my purchase. As to the water not coming out, are you sure you allowed the machine to properly heat up? I thought my machine wasn't working when I first purchased it. I also find...

    Rancillio and Breville Machines

marinjim, I just saw your response. I bought the Breville that is one step down from the one you're talking about. I definitely would have gone Silvia were I buying in that price range. I ended up with a Cafe Roma for $230 and am quite pleased - so much better than stovetop or any of the...

Breville Cafe Roma - what grind to use..

Sort of what I do, except I use a paper plate. I was hoping there was a better solution. I also run a little water through prior to brewing, mostly to get everything up to temp. I haven't noticed lots of steam being discharged until I've brewed at least 2 double shots and frothed a container...

Breville Cafe Roma - what grind to use..

I agree that the Breville pulls a nice shot. Since you're not grinding at home, I will suggest a pre ground espresso that we enjoy - Pilon Gourmet. I've found that the store grinders vary a great deal and, so far, I'm pleased with the Gourmet version of Pilon. Can't stand their regular stuff...

    espressso machine question

Mine also does it, and I think it's normal. I especially notice it when the machine is truly up to temp.

    Rancillio and Breville Machines

First off, we love espresso and cappuccino and make both every day. We're definitely not purists like most of you, but do want a good brew. I've done a little reading, but still am not sure where I'm going. It seems new options keep coming up and I welcome any advice anyone may have. Cutting...
