We start out at .50 above minimum wage (Maine's is $6.50), give another .25 after training and then raises on merit. All workers, including supervisors, share tips and can make another buck or two an hour there.
Another coffee shop owner told me he tops his people out at $7.50 no matter how long they've been there and he has a very dedicated staff. However, he's in a much higher traffic area than I and they bring in a lot more tips.
