Can you half fill a stove top percolator?

I have a 6 cup capacity stove top percolator. Can I use only half the water and coffee grind?

Will this work or will the coffee move around, allowing the water to pass through without absorbing coffee?

Should work, any less might not. Give it a try. Worst case scenario, just perc another pot.
