For sale is an original antique Jabez Burns & Sons 35X commercial coffee cupping table — the complete setup, not parts. This is the real thing: a heavy, early-20th-century piece of coffee trade equipment from Burns' New York factory, fully marked throughout and fully functioning.
What you're getting:
• The terrazzo circular top — heavy composite stone with a speckled grey finish and a concentric ring on the working surface. The underside carries the original 4-point cast-iron spider mounting, cast with the JB logo, and the center of the top has the brass escutcheon ring stamped with the JB & S monogram.
• The cast-iron base — round and domed, with the raised JB monogram cast right into it and bolt holes around the rim.
• The vertical stand assembly — column with the top-mounted T-handle dual-shaft gear alignment mechanism. The gear housing is cast with 35X9 and the JB monogram, and the mechanism works as it should.
• The rotating cast-iron arm with tray — swings freely on the column, with its small rectangular tray intact at the end.
• The brass maker's plate — fastened to the column, clearly reading "JABEZ BURNS & SONS, 11th AVE & 43rd ST, NEW YORK," with "BURNS EQUIPMENT" and "REG. U.S. PAT. OFF." and "No. 35X." There is also a "14" stamp on the column below the plate.
Condition: Original and unrestored, in honest as-found condition. The iron carries age-appropriate patina and surface rust from storage, the brass has a natural aged patina, and the terrazzo top is solid and intact. The rotation and gear mechanism are fully functioning — this is not a parts piece.
This would be right at home as a working cupping table in a roastery, a restoration project, or a flagship display piece. Complete, fully marked 35X setups don't come up often. I have more pictures and will be glad to send more or take more pictures should you need them.
Price: $6,500
Location: Florence, MS — local pickup preferred. Freight shipping can be arranged at the buyer's expense — also possibly willing to help facilitate the sell by delivering the table within 250 miles with up front delivery deposit. message me to discuss.
