Many coffee shops let you add shots of espresso to a coffee beverage you order for 50¢ each. If you ordered a coffee drink and wanted some espresso separately, would they charge the same price, or would they charge for the espresso as if you were buying it by itself($1.25 for a single, etc.)?

If the espresso was added to the drip by our employees, we charge 50 cents. If you want it in another cup, its 1.65. the price of a cup of espresso.

If this sounds wrong, remember we need to make a nominal amount of profit per drink. If we didn't we'd all soon be out of business. The reason the shot in another drink is at a very reduced cost is because we offer it as a service, and not a big profit making scheme. We made the money on the sale of the beverage were dropping the shot into.
Pretty much any add-on to a beverage will cost less, as the cost of the initial beverage should be factored into the total cost.

Whe charge .25 for a shot added to a blended drink and .50 for an extra shot in an espresso drink. We charge 1.00 for two straight shots.
