No coffee flavor in coffee, just a bitter beverage.

Hey all, I have two coffee machines from the same company. I had the first one for a few years, and it never made a nice coffee-flavored drink. So I upgraded to a more expensive machine from the same company. This one is the same, and I tried different beans. It tastes like the machine is burning the beans. I adjusted the grind and coffee strength. Coarse grind gives me a watery, bitter espresso; fine grind gives me a stronger, bitter espresso. My friend uses the same beans in his machine, and his coffee is delicious with a rich coffee flavor. Does anyone have a similar experience with their machine
