Much to my surprise, my local supermarket had a decent selection of Peet's coffees whose roast date was mostly within 1 week to 10 days of purchase. I had to double check each bag but I could find a recent roast on all of my selections. I know this is less than ideal but it does take about a week from roasting for the coffee ordered from Peet's website to reach me on the east coast, since their standard shipping is with UPS ground. I refuse to pay an exorbitant price for expedited shipping. I do wish they shipped via priority mail but they don't (as far as I know).

I do also use a local roaster for some coffee's however I do like most, if not all, of Peet's coffees. I do like medium-dark and dark roasts. Sorry!

So has anybody noticed a difference between their supermarket bags and the ones they ship to you from their website?

Surely you can find a roaster on the east coast who over-roasts their coffees too? :-0

You mean, roast them just right? ;-)

Yes, exactly. ;-)

My dad used to say, "It's a free country." We all like our coffee like we like our coffee. I was simply guessing that it should be easy to find a Peet's style coffee-roaster in the East, and forget about having to ship theirs cross-country.
