Hello,

I was thinking of purchasing a Petroncini roaster but:

It seems that they use an air convection system, rather than heating the drum directly. Does it compare to an air roaster or is it still closer to a normal drum roaster?

Thanks,

Mihai

From previous experience on a petroncini, found the roaster did a decent job but service from the company was pisspoor. Thats just the experience i found, others may argue...

The idea is exactly what I think the future of roasting will look like. I have both a fluid-bed roaster and a conventional drum roaster. The fluid-bed roaster gives a uniform roast, but the drum gives the coffee more depth of flavor. Also, the current fluid-bed roasters only roast 1 to 2 lbs. unless you have Mr. Sivetz build one for more than the price of a sports car.

Oh, yeah I also think gas is preferable to electric because electric is dry heat. Long story, but the bottom line is I'd really love to sample some coffee roasted in the Petrocini. I'm betting it is an excellent machine.

Roaster Authority is marketing refurbed and upgraded units that look pretty nice.

I know nothing of these but am shopping for a 2.5-7K roaster of some design. Havnt settled on what methods I prefer.
