Oh...that's easy...
It simply refers to the fact that you're NOT using deadly poisons on your farm & that you're living true to the concept of sustainable agriculture - so that in turn, the immediate environment is healthy & friendly to birds & people alike! Your natural water souce, if you're lucky to have one like we do, stays pure & uncontamidated. The triple shade that protects the coffee here also provides food & shelter for everything from hawks to owls. Right now, my ducks are doing the weeding all over the finca!
I believe the term "songbird friendly" was coined in Seattle several years ago when folks began to realize that there was a LOT MORE to coffee than just opening up that old Maxwell House can!
