Why does french press coffee taste better?

I completely agree.

We have a jura coffee making machine at home. £750 worth and I think I still prefer the taste from a french press. I think for me, it is the control I have over how much coffee bean I put in.

I also love the fact that due to self grinding, you get all the smells and aromas that bring you to your knees.

Sub note: I couldn't get hold of any nice distant coffee beans so I bought some christmas blend from starbucks. Put that in a french press. that's some good good coffee.

I've never had any issues with my AeroPress. It doesn't go down quick, but then you want slow, steady pressure anyway.

Belated reply: No, it isn't too difficult to push down. If it is, you are either grinding too finely or pushing too hard. It seems counterintuitive, but the lighter you push, the easier it is (same with the lever on my Pavoni espresso machine).
