WMF 1400. Steam wand issue

I’m assuming it has a manual steam wand function. I press and hold the illuminated button and nothing happens. The hot water function is also very slow. Could this be a clogged wand issue or am I missing something completely? I am used to a more traditional style of espresso machine.
