Tanzanian Peaberry is hitting the spot today!

Thanks for the advice, topher. Today I'm finishing off your Tanzanian Peaberry and it's hitting the spot quite nicely :D

Americano's are basically all I drink! Love 'em every morning. Question for all you roasters out there--more caffeine in a double Americano or a 16z dark roast? I prefer the strong taste of the Americano, but just curious. (Please don't think me naive)

Caffeination....

Looks like differences in caffeine content between espresso and other brewing methods are not significantly different on a per serving basis.

"By means of comparison, a 7 oz cup of coffee has the following caffeine (mg) amounts, according to Bunker and McWilliams in J. Am. Diet. 74:28-32, 1979:

Drip 115-175
Espresso 100mg of caffeine
1 serving (1.5-2oz)

Brewed 80-135
Instant 65-100
Decaf, brewed 3-4
Decaf, instant 2-3
Tea, iced (12 ozs.) 70
Tea, brewed, imported 60
Tea, brewed, U.S. 40
Tea, instant 30
Mate 25-150mg

The variability in the amount of caffeine in a cup of coffee or tea is relatively large even if prepared by the same person using the same equipment and ingredients day after day."

I would love to visit your coffeeshop! I love what I have here, (although it took a lot of trial and error to find my two favorite spots that I now practically live at) but I never knew how much variety there was.

However, that's probably a good thing because if I had your quality brews, I would probably never want to go back to mine. Thanks for the info and get some sleep!

Hey Javagirl...I think you would like my place! We owned by the casino so we do things a wee bit different than other coffee shops...we have a full bar for alcohol based coffee drinks...pastries made every day...coffee roasted as you watch...jamaican blue mountain by the pot..actually we will do any coffee you want by the pot! Oh well I am off to the roastery!

There is one coffeeshop around here that offers Jamaican Blue Mntn as a special every Wed, but I've never tried it (their espresso is much less then stellar).

As I said before, I haven't tried many different roasts/brews, etc. Partly because it's just not offered around here and partly because I'm an espresso addict. I can't remember the last day I went w/out my coffee. Glad to know there are others out there like me!
