Hiring a security Guard will be extremely costly to your shop. I highly suggest tho getting a security system, a good one too that can secure your building and records everything. That will be more useful then hiring an expensive security card. If protection is something you are worried, maybe bring pepper spray or a taser to use ?

Or better yet, find a location for your coffee shop that is not in a high crime zone where you need to wear a bullet proof vest just to walk to your car.

Of course not. Yes having a security guard on your place will rule out the possibility of being robbed, but don't forget that it will cost you a lot of money and in my opinion, a coffee shop, a place where you won't find precious things and millions of dollars will be ever chosen by thieves as a crime place. But, I can suggest you install a surveillance camera and a security system which is the best way to ensure the security of your coffee shop. If something will happen, and someone will try to break a door or a window, guys from the nearest security point will come to you in less than 2 minutes. Visit https://www.1800doorbell.com/entrance-alerts/ here you will find the best security systems available on the market.
Thank you for the recommendation

Every coffee shop should have armed guards present. You know the ones. Like the ones you see in train stations like Penn Station or Grand Central Station in NYC or Gare du Nord in Paris.

mntnman62....tell me you are joking.

I hope he is too!

Also I thought about the plaza or building the cafe is. Is there a chance that they may provide security for the premises instead? Someone who can secure the whole property versus just having someone in your shop all the time.

By the way, I went to school in Boca Raton, I'm an FAU Owl!

YO!! I bet your missing the amazing weather here!! Just followed you on IG. Have you ever been to our shops? I roast for Brooklyn water bagels. I just see wasting money to have a security guard in the shop or even outside the shop. If some one tries to rob you...give them the money. How much cash is really on hand? I can't remember the last time I have heard of a coffee shop being knocked over. Oh well....do what you feel comfortable with I guess.

Haha, yup! I didn't see snow until I left South Florida for Houston, who would of thought? Lol. I haven't been to Brooklyn Water Bagels but I will next time I'm in town, count on it!

But I agree, I think security guard is nice to have, but as long as no one is playing a hero and you have insurance, I think you should use that expense somewhere else.

I am not joking. I think every coffee shop needs an armed guard with an assault rifle out and ready with his finger near the trigger. Can you think of a better deterent? I won't feel safe going into a coffee shop unless I see one of these guards watching over the place. I should know. I'm from New Jersey and worked in NYC for decades. A very rough place. Anarchy is running amok. Save the coffee shops.

P.S. Nudge nudge, wink wink

Indeed, every business linked with food and drinks needs security services and proper control. Today, multiple riots around the world have shown that your business is constantly under threat. You don't know what to expect and who will come to your office/shop when you are absent. I installed an alarm system in my apartment that I turn on at night even if I'm at home. If I had my own business I would definitely have a security guard. There is a good bodyguard school, which produces excellent specialists in this field. So you could be sure that your goods will be protected.
