Sometime back I bought a Chefbar Tea kettle with the thermometer off of Amazon for around $20, and it works great, it has a very fine pour stream if you want it to be fine, very controllable. It's made of stainless steel.
There were one or two comments about it rusting on the bottom, so far in almost a year that hasn't happened to mine. As with anything that holds water you can't get all the water out so you should store it with lid off soon as you are done using it so it can air dry. There were a couple of complaints that it leaked at the base, again that hasn't been my experience, but if it does just send it back and get another one. It has over 7,000 reviews with 4 1/2 stars, so out of that many sold you might get a couple with issues, but the percentage of problems with this kettle is extremely low. Stainless steel can rust, which why you need to shake all the water out of it and let it air dry, you could wipe it out with a paper towel but there is seam at the bottom that goes around the circumference of the kettle, you're not going to be able to get the water out of that seam, so let it air dry.
Some reviewers on Amazon complain about stuff that is impossible to happen, for example, I bought a travel razor from Norelco, one user was telling everyone to stay away from it because it cut his face all up...that's impossible for that to happen with either a foil or especially with that twin rotary razor! A lot of complaints are fake, or user error and they blame the item for their stupidity, not sure what the motivation is for putting out fake bad reviews.
