Does anyone care about direct trade?

I have a friend working the direct coffee trade business and he has outlined to me how important it is to cut down the middlemen in the chain for the coffee farmers. Do you guys agree?

I think the regular coffee consumers do not care enough about the coffee farmers to buy such direct trade coffee.

I do.
I believe consumers will as well when they pay less per cup. I can't see why I can’t make higher margins while saving consumer a fraction as well. Sounds good in theory, but I have yet to put into practice.
As a business we have a plan to explore the possibility pretty quick as we will be heading to Tanzania to meet with some local farmers, and go over the possible logistics. I’m really hoping things pan out there. I’ll let you know what transpires.
