Long time drinker, short time maker here.
I am not getting to 9 bars during shot(only 4 bar)
I consistently get 9 with the blind filter.
Am using a bottomless PF
I have:
reduced grind size(tried Pretty much the full range of this grinder)
minimized headspace
cleaned seal
cleaned shower screen
I get no channeling, rarely spraying
I stir the grounds before tamping
my pucks come out hard and pretty dry, but fully moistened, space beneath puck, still attached
watched tons of YouTube for clues
I guess I haven't checked precise flow rates yet; will get to that. But I get roughly 3.5 oz in 20 secs at 4 bar
I'm suspecting I have a poor quality(too porous?)basket?; I bought the portafilter on Ebay from random seller.
Depth of basket = 0.85" ; after tamping coffee is approx 0.65" deep
Looking for advice, figured I'd drop this in the Intro section and not muck up the Espresso area
Machine:
Profitec 500 Pro (pre-PID) a friend gave to me after it died. 58mm
Control module was bad so I repaired the 12V power Supply(voltage regulator $1.50), replaced one relay($1), cleaned thoroughly, de-scaled and flushed, and got it back on the road again
Received without a Portafilter so bought a no-name one on Ebay.
Use a Cuisinart Grinder(weak reviews) I've had for years.
