Roasting Apprenticeship

Hey all,

I live in the Seattle area and I'm interested in finding someone to teach me coffee roasting. Seems rather hard to get my foot in the door. Do I have to be a barista first? Does anyone know what I need to do to get into this? Are there any courses I can take? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
