Did you solve the problem? If so, in what way?
I have a slightly different model of Saeco (Royal Cappuccino - TYPE: SUP016R). I got it for free as damaged, and found that symptom is the same as on the photo in your post (the same displayed pattern).
I have quite a good knowledge of electronics, but I have no experience with espresso machines, so it would be nice to have some helpful starting point, eg. if it is required to replace the entire control module, it is rather unprofitable...
