My Magic Deluxe (that i have had for a very long time, and has been serviced periodically) is misbehaving.
The grinder has stopped working. It isn't a dosage issue.
When i remove all the beans and clean the grinder, the grinder works, but if i add beans the grinder starts and then slows down and stops. Then it doesn't turn at all and doesn't make any noise.
It looks like the grinder motor is toast (to me). Does that happen? Is there anything else that can fail than can make the grinder motor gutless?
I am remote, so i don't want to bring it to a service centre. I am happy to replace the grinder motor, but i am wondering if they fail, or if there is some other failure that manifests in this way.

What condition are the burrs in?

You stated it worked ok after cleaning, so I'd look at the burrs being worn as one possibility.

The burrs look fine.
It stops turning when the more than one or two beans are in the burrs.

Bogging down under load. I'm no expert, but it kind of sounds like oil from the beans is clogging the bearings. You been grinding dark, oily beans?

I haven't changed the beans i have been using. The burrs look super clean - i cleaned them with compressed air.
I couldn't see to the bearings without disassembling the machine.
I will do that soon and pull the motor out to examine it closely.
Are the bearings part of the burr assembly or the motor asembly?

Not knowing your machine, I'd assume like most machines, there're part of the motor assembly.
If you've had it for a few years, may be correct to just replace the motor and be done with it. Burrs and bearings are the only two items I can think of causing to it bogg down under load.

That is what i thought too.
The machine was serviced a few years ago. It looks clean inside. I can turn the burr with my fingers and it feels smooth.
I have a motor coming and will pull it apart when i have the motor.
Thanks for your input.
