Saeco machines typically have pressurized portafilters. All Gaggias that I know of don't. Some may come with a crema enhancing disc, but anybody that knows what to do with an espresso machine wouldn't dare use one. All things being equal out-of-the-box I'm quite sure the Gaggia machines will produce better espresso consistently.
