I am a newbie. Just bought a Starbucks Sirena and am enjoying it. However, I don''t think the espresso is as rich as it could be. I notice that after I make espresso there is still quite a bit of water in the portafilter. Is this normal? I was expecting to see just the grind. Thanks for your help.

You might be grinding too fine. Also make sure your not using the pod attachment if it's just regular ground coffee.

The Sirena isn't the best with shots from what I hear, but if it's good coffee tamped correctly at the right grind, you should be fine.

I'm not too familiar with that machine, but it probably doesn't have a 3-way solenoid valve. This valve is put into place to relieve brew pressure once extraction is complete. It helps to dry the puck out alot. It also allows the user to pull shot after shot with no waiting for pressure to drop. Machines without this will usually have a very wet puck. Later!
