Quink, your formula indicates why a scale wont work. Scales dont measure PSI. PSI is a unit of pressure, scales measure weight. I dont think it is as simple as converting based on size of the item.

I would have thought that if you have an item with an area of 1 sq inch on a scale and zero it then apply force until it registered 30 lbs on te scale would that not be a pressure of 30 psi? from what I can remember of schoolboy physics pressure is only force over area. or am I going up the wrong tree here :?
