I was looking at SCAA-certified coffee makers and came across the CAFÉ Specialty Grind and Brew Coffee Maker. However I'm not seeing any real reviews.
Background info: I'm looking for a new coffee maker for my elderly mother. She's had a Keurig for many years; I originally bought it for her solely for ease of use. I've never liked it (coffee isn't so great; lots of disposables). The old one broke a year and a half ago and I replaced it with a Keurig Supreme--which began to fail not much more than a year later (would shut off after dispensing about 2 oz). I plan on replacing it when her supply of K-cups runs out.
However, she has become infirm enough that I basically make her coffee for her, so ease-of-use isn't really an issue anymore. Convenience is, to some degree: I have my own grinders and various Harios, Chemex, and French presses, but she'll simply want a cup of coffee ASAP.
This means regular single-cup brews--regular in the AM, decaf afternoon/evening, though if the coffeemaker is good enough I might make a cup of coffee at the same time, for convenience. However, periodically there'll be company, so one-cup only (e.g., a Technivorm Moccamaster 69212 Cup One) wouldn't be a great option.
So, how is the CAFÉ, and are there better options?
