This is my first post, please bear with me as I am coming from the marketing world.

I live in an area where A LOT of boutique/new-age shops are open currently, each boasting their own version of "local-brew" "roasted local" etc and I notice in the West the rising popularity of "bikini" coffee shops.

First off, can anyone offer any insight on the trend and actual viability of the operating model? Second question is what type of plan is required to propose to any type of city regulation or efforts to turn down the opening of such an establishment?

Thanks!

Extremely profitable in the Seattle area. The business risk is that a municipality can shut down that type of business whenever they feel like passing an ordinance. Other high risk is the employees offering illegal services that is difficult to deter 100% of the time as an owner.

Maine had a "topless" coffee shop that was eventually shut down. This was about 5 years ago. A coffee & Doughnut was around 6.00! Asking for a cruller was risky!!
