Hello Everyone,

I am new to this site. I think it is a grate way to collaborate with other coffee enthusiast.

I am the owner of a Coffee Bar. I have a very big problem. It smells. I want the place to smell like fresh coffee. I make sandwiches, and people smoke in the shop. I have installed high volume extractors but I still have the smell of sandwiches and cigarettes.

Does anyone know how to get a strong coffee smell? What ideas do you have to improve the aroma to a fresh coffee sent?

Uhmmmm.... get rid of the cigarettes. No amount of great smelling coffee is going to cover up the smell of stale cigarette.

Honestly, though - if the majority of your customers smoke, they probably do not have the best sense of smell anyway. They probably don't notice the odor of your shop.

The other option is to get a better ventilation/filtration system put in, like the kind they use in casinos (those that use them anyway :D ).

I used to run a coffee/cigar shop...we had a small smoking room for cigars...you couldn't smoke anywhere but this room. That room would stink the next day...so at night we put pie tins with ground coffee in them..next morning coffee smell in the room and the actual coffee smelled like old cigar..yuck..tried it in a corvair I bought..owner smoked in it for years....put some pie tins...and it worked! Java queen is right you really do not want smoke around your coffee...will draw the taste..good luck.
