Do commercial machines need the external pump or can they run on pressure regulated tap water?

I'm testing the function of a commercial machine that I bought locally. It has an external pump, but the motor is no longer there. I'm wondering if it can be run on tap water using some form of pressure regulator, at least during the testing phase. I don't want to invest too much in parts before I know whether it has something seriously wrong with it.

To help you, please let us know the brand and model of the machine. Please also add some pictures of the machine and pump.

It's an Astoria Argenta. The pump is basically like this one:

As far as I'm aware it is not possible to make espresso from any std line water pressure. A pump is required. On commercial machines this is a rotary pump. Pretty much the same pumps and motors have been used for 20-30 years, maybe longer, so parts are pretty easy to find
