I-roast/thermocouple - how?

I am trying to figure out how to get a thermocouple into an I-Roast.

Snake it in or drill a hole? I have a thermocouple meat-type thermometer with a pointed rod on the end of the wire. Will this work?

Can anyone point me to pictures?
