Hello I was just wondering if there was anyone out there who would find a spring loaded espresso tamp handy? if it was pre-tensioned and would allow the barista to apply 30lbs of pressure to the grounds everytime. I think it would eliminate the variable of pressure so you wouldn''t have to worry about it? would anybody be interested?
 
I think that idea may have been already copyrighted if I'm correct.

As far as I know, some barista's use it during training.

I do stand corrected though.

Will there is a consistency for these type of tampers, who is to say we all want to tamp to 30 pounds? Maybe a tamper with adjustable tension will have a market too?
 
They are set at 30 lbs because it it considered the standard by the various groups who put on barista competitions.
