krups moka brew for 1-2 cups?

i've seen a lot of good reviews for this machine. but i remember reading that in general, coffee makers don't produce good coffee if you make less than a full pot (8 cups for this one). is this true for this machine? my husband and i each drink just 1 cup a day.

what are our other options, other than french press?
