As my "About You" section says, I was recently diagnosed with a serious liver problem. One of the doctor's treatment strategies is for me to drink 2-3 cups of black coffee per day. I never drank coffee so I'm in a learning process. I did a search engine query for 'coffee forums' and found this site. ;) "Howdy!"

Welcome to the forum! If you want to learn about coffee there is loads of great people on here! What are you drinking currently and what have you found what you like vs what you do not like? Who's coffee are you drinking? Again...welcome!

Hi topher!
At the moment I'm in my 'trying all sorts of things' phase :) . So far I'm preferring medium-light to medium roasts; dark roasts are a bit too much for me right now; Columbian seems to be a nice middle-of-the-road source. I've picked up a drip coffee maker, a K-cup maker, and a drip brewer with a built-in bean grinder, all from Goodwill, LOL  . I *just* got an OXO single cup pour-over and a manual burr grinder from Amazon delivered. Right now I'm drinking mostly a grocery store grind in the drip brewer or a k-cup from a variety pack (to try things for a broad idea without having to make a whole pot).

I have written a blog on old school wet shaving for years, and I'm going to do something similar for my black coffee experiences.

You're doctor is awesome, I wish mine would prescribe me coffee too! But I always have mine with oat milk lol

Also... a quick joke... on the subject of black coffee

Check out some online roasters. Most online roasters do not keep roasted coffee in stock and roast what is needed. It doesn't sit in a warehouse and then the shelf.

Online is one avenue for fresh coffee. I forgot to ask if you had hit any of the local roasters. Check these guys out. https://politecoffee.com/ they are in Bryan Texas. If you go...tell em to join this forum!

Yep, working on it! :) Stirling Soaps not only makes excellent shaving soaps but they also have a roasting gig too!

I haven't hit Polite yet but I've discovered about a dozen coffee shops in the area via search engine & Instagram. I'll be trying them soon.
