Roasting my own coffee

Hey Guys,

I'm just getting into roasting. I'm not sure if this is common knowledge, but can I roast green coffee beans and sell them online as my own brand? Would I have to pay a company like sweet maria's?

Yes. You can buy green from Tom and his cohorts at Sweet Maria's or similar places, roast it, and sell it. Many, many small boutique shops buy from them or Coffee Shrub.

Practice. Taste. Repeat.

Thanks for the response! What would you recommend for a first roaster? I am thinking about using stovetop, but a lot have recommended investing in a $200-300 roaster.

Is this good for a beginner?

can Kaldi be used as a decent sample roaster?
compared to Gene roaster, which one do you personally recommend?

The Kaldi is not for a beginner. The Gene is more in line with what it sounds like your trying to do.

One suggestion ion is learn to roast before you think about selling coffee. It is not as easy as buying a $500 roaster and making money. Learn to roast because you love coffee, then share your passion.
