Size of coffee industry

Hi,

I am trying to get a figure on the number of commercial businesses worldwide (not counting home roasters).
It is hard even here in Italy. I found 650 - 750 quoted on the 700 on the web, though a friend in the business said that it is nearer 3000!
Much appreciated if anyone knows.

Anyone know this? Even if it is just a ba park for US or UK.
