I am about to start roasting and will probably roast about 1/2 pound per week, but I am sure do more on special occasions. With the following options, which would you choose. I would also appreciate comments as to why you would choose this option. Otherwise quality, convenience, etc.

Thanks,
John

fresh roast 8 plus

I roast about a pound a week with my Fresh Roast 8 Plus. I do it on the week end because you can't roast that much at a time.

Have you guys that are fans of the Freshroast I used anything else that you could compare it to. In my research I just could not find enough information to suggest it was far better than my $5 West Bend Poppery or building a Stir Crazy Turbo Oven. Thanks for any information.

You may want to check out the Gene Cafe 1/2 lb roaster ... there is a good write up and description on Sweet Marias I have only used the Gene once but have heard a lot of good things about it from people I trust.

I also think the Gene is a good roaster and I have tried a few roasters. I think it's actually a lot better than the "bean baking" Hottop they all rave about (I don't include the new very expensive digital model in this as I know nothing about it).

With the Gene though, ignore most of the roasting advice in the manual :-D
