I recently purchased a 50's GE percolator that makes coffee with a terrible metallic taste. I already have one (not the same cat. number but approx same age and it is wonderful). I'm looking for a remedy for the metallic taste. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you already tried cleaning it out with any of the coffee machine cleaners made by someone like "Urnex"? I don't know if that will help, but it's probably the best place to start (since you aren't getting any other suggestions).

Maybe it would help to follow the instructions on how to season a moka pot before using it. Your coffee maker may need seasoning. The idea is to get the metalic taste out of the pot. (Google Moka Pot seasoning for examples) You brew some salt water first and then you make a couple brews of coffee and dump it out before making drinkable coffee. And you don't wash the pot with soapy water.....
