I quite like the look (read: price) of this 'Andrew James' (seems to be kitchen appliance brand, but not a coffee specialist, just one or two models):
Amazon: Andrew James B00JRA1G84
But would I be an awful person for brewing freshly ground coffee through a filter? I've never really heard of it; I like espresso (tend to drink 'Americano' though, more so it lasts than anything else) but like coffee from a cafetiere too. Not sure that I've ever tried filtered - is it much different?
Also tempted by De'Longhi EC820:
Amazon: DeLonghi EC820.B B004INNKPC
But I'm not really clear how easy it is to make longer drinks, e.g. 'Americano' with espresso machines - do you have to use some other source to top up with hot water? Or can you just let it run for longer, into a larger mug? But it doesn't look like anything other than a short mug would fit?
TIA!
(PS: can't link because need >=5 post count, sorry!)
